Female Reproductive System

The female reproductive system is located within the pelvis and is responsible for the production and fertilization of gametes and carrying a developing embryo and later fetus, to term.

It is made up of external and internal organs such as:

  1. Vulva

    • External female genitalia.

  2. Vagina

    • Muscular tube which connecting the uterus and cervix to the external vaginal orifice.

  3. Cervix

    • Lower part of the uterus.

  4. Uterus

    • Location of normal implantation of an early embryo.

  5. Uterine tubes

    • Connect the ovaries to the uterus, to transport the ovum towards the uterus.

  6. Ovaries

    • Female gonads that are the site of gametogenesis.
