Muscles of the PosteriorThigh
The muscles of the posterior thigh region can be described as:
- Biceps femoris - This muscle originates on the lateral lip of the linea aspera of the femur and attaches to the head of the fibula 
- This muscle acts to extend at the hip joint and flex as well as laterally rotate the leg 
 
- Semitendinosus - This muscle originates on the ischial tuberosity and attaches to the pes anserinus of the tibia 
- This muscle act to extend at the hip joint and flex as well as laterally rotate the leg 
 
- Semimembranosus - This muscle originates on the ischial tuberosity and attaches to the medial condyle of the tibia 
- This muscle acts to extend at the hip joint and flex as well as medially rotate the leg
